Carbondale, IL

A few weeks ago Elav was accepted into a program in Carbondale, IL for the fall semester of 2008. That means ten days after we are married, Elav begins school in a new school many hours away from friends and family. And I’ll be right there with him, raking in the doe. Well, hopefully anyway.

So it is official! We are moving to Carbondale, IL!

Registry finished!

Because it is the thing to do (and not because it makes me feel good) I’ve spent a while putting together our registry stores. So with that finally finished, I am moving onto invitations! So let me know if you want to come. Just kidding, I’ve got a highly sophisticated way of figuring out these things. Oh I wish.

I also changed our blog photo–this is Elav and I the day we figured out where we wanted our wedding site to be (with the top of Chloe’s head, my family’s dog). The snow is gone now, and in anticipation of August 8 we are mowing the area to encourage grass to sprout.

Shelter, seating and elbow-resters

Yuppers– We have a tent, chairs, and tables. And linen. But, as of yet, I’m not sure what to do about plates, silverware, cups, etc because I do NOT want to do plastic and I really would prefer not wasting a bunch of paper ware. I suppose we could do recycled paper ware. And it would cut down on the time dedicated to someone cleaning and stuff. But in a way it still seems like such a waste. Any suggestions?

Wedding Dress

Last night I went looking for a wedding dress, and ended up buying two wedding dresses!  One is from Macy’s, though, so its not meant to be a wedding dress; I’ll be canceling that order.  Finally Mom can relax, though, and not worry about finding a dress anymore.  I also found a beautiful teal sash that I think is going to be “my” color.  Anyhow, that is that for updates.  Things are pluggin’ along.

Snagged a Caterer!

The name of the caterer is called Country Catering and it is two ladies from Maiden Rock.  They’ll be able to come out to wherever we set up the show–I mean, wedding.

B&B and Wedding/Reception Site planning

This weekend we spent a few hours checking out bed & breakfasts and then we even made a decision! It is beautiful and now we have an idea of where we’ll be spending the nights of our wedding weekend.

As for the wedding site and reception site, we have narrowed our options down to 3 options and are leaning heavily on 1 of those. After this next week we will hopefully be able to publish where the wedding will be and, best case senario, it will also be the same place as the reception. Yey!

Officiant

To make a long story short, I got a recommendation to call Joe Boles a few days ago. Because the name sounded so familiar, I asked my mom how I knew his name. Back when I was in high school, Dad and I ran our first 10k together and got into a conversation with Joe Boles (which helped take my mind off of running) in the middle. He is also our neighbor on Mom and Dad’s river property. I feel like its a good connection–Joe being the Officiant.

We [almost] have a Photographer!

This past weekend Elav visited River Falls from Friday through Sunday. We made some progress with hooking up services for our wedding day. I know who I would like as a photographer, officiant and videographer. I just have to officially sign them up. Mom is checking on renting tents, tables and portapoties. Next we need to find a caterer that serves delicious, health food and that’s it as far as the wedding and reception goes.

6 months from today

Well, we are both back in school for the spring semester and studying hard. Plans for our wedding are happening slowly. Neither of us have been married before so we really aren’t sure how to go about this.

The date is August 8 and more information is sure to come.

New Wedding Date

We are nearly for sure (like 98%) that our wedding date is changing from 22 Aug 08 to the 08 Aug 08. That is two weeks earlier, which doesn’t mean much to me right now because its still 8 months away, but I’m sure I’ll be happy when August comes around because now its sooner in August. 08/08/08 <–no matter what you put first (month, year, day) it will be the same date. How cool.
